I have a lot on my plate at my new job already. Working at a local history museum on a very small staff, I have several job duties, one of which is managing, researching, and creating exhibits. What's it like living in the Arizona desert? Well, the first thing is the heat. Saying it's hot is a bit like saying Bill Gates has money. True, but not nearly descriptive enough. The cliché is that it's a dry heat. Yeah. So dry that water gets sucked out of the ground, leaving dissolved minerals known as caliche, an impenetrable layer, behind. Since moving here, I have been completely baffled by all of the tanning salons everywhere. We get more than 300 sunny days a year. Why do you need a tanning salon? It doesn't make any sense.
